Enrolment and Course Terms and Conditions 2012
Course information
1. The minimum age is 16 unless otherwise specified. There is no maximum age.
2. Tuition fees include: all tuition charges, level assessment and progress tests, welcome pack, tutorial, free email and internet access, access to resource and listening materials, some social activities, advice and assistance where needed, course completion certificate.
3. Tuition fees do not include: accommodation charges, registration fee, course books, airport pickup, exam fees, insurance, UK bank charges, postage or special delivery charges, travel, excursions and some social activities.
4. All fees must be paid in full before you start your course. Where special arrangements have been made, course fees are still payable in full prior to termination of the course. You will not be permitted to stay in accommodation arranged through the school if fees have not been paid in full.
5. Students shall indemnify and keep indemnified Crest in respect of all monies due to be paid to Crest or in respect of any other penalty imposed on Crest as a result (whether direct or indirect) of the student’s acts or omissions or as may be deemed by any legal authority or any court of competent jurisdiction.
6. Whether you book your course direct, through an agency or through any other party, our Terms & Conditions are binding on all students. Your registration, enrolment and deposit for any of our programmes constitute a binding agreement for you to pay fees in full.
7. When we have received your deposit or payment in full and processed your enrolment details we will email or post a letter of acceptance confirming your place on the course, details of accommodation if requested together with travel information, details of airport pick-up and/or insurance if required.
8. If your course or other services are unavailable, we will either suggest an alternative or refund your payment.

All fees are payable in pounds sterling (GBP).

All bank charges must be paid by the student, otherwise these will be payable on arrival in school. Please fax, post or email a copy of the bank transfer document including the student’s full name.

EU, EEA & Non-Visa Nationals
Letters of acceptance and details of accommodation will be only issued when we have received the following:
- Registration Fee of GBP 40
- Tuition fees in full
- Accommodation Arrangement Fee of GBP 40 (if applicable)
- Payment for 4 weeks’ accommodation (if applicable)
Letters can be sent by special delivery (DHL or equivalent) at extra cost. Fees must be paid in full at least 2 weeks before the start of your course
Visa Nationals
Letters of Acceptance and details of accommodation where applicable will be issued when we have received the following:
- Registration Fee of GBP 40
- Non-EU Administration Fee of GBP 75
- Tuition fees in full
- Accommodation Arrangement Fee of GBP 40 (if applicable)
- Payment for 4 weeks’ accommodation (if applicable)
- Where applying for a student visa, CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) fee of GBP 10 (non-refundable)
Letters can be sent by special delivery (DHL or equivalent) at extra cost.
Accommodation
1. Accommodation can be arranged for students while studying at Crest Schools of English.
2. All accommodation is subject to availability and is arranged for complete calendar weeks only.
3. We reserve the right to allocate alternative accommodation without prior notification.
4. Unless your accommodation is classified as ‘self-catering’ you will not be able to use any kitchen facilities
5. If you require extra days in homestay accommodation, you will be charged a pro rata daily rate.
6. If you take a holiday during your stay and are away from your accommodation, you will be required to pay the full rate for your accommodation while you are away.
7. If you decide to leave your accommodation early or wish to change your accommodation, you must give the accommodation provider and the school at least seven days’ notice in writing.
Crest Schools of English acts solely as an agent for the student and the accommodation provider. The contract for the accommodation is between the student and the accommodation provider.
Cancellation Policy
Non-Visa Nationals
Before arrival:
1. If you cancel your course more than 14 days before your course begins, at the sole discretion of Crest Schools of English we will refund your fees paid less your deposit and registration fee. If accommodation was requested we will refund the accommodation fees paid less the deposit and accommodation arrangement fee. You must notify the school in writing.
2. If you cancel your course less than 14 days before your course commences, at the sole discretion of Crest Schools of English we will refund your course fees less the deposit, registration fee, bank charges, accommodation arrangement fee and two weeks’ accommodation fee where applicable. You must notify the school in writing.
After arrival:
3. If you cancel your course after your arrival in the UK no refund of tuition fees, registration fees, accommodation arrangement fees or accommodation fees will be made. At the sole discretion of Crest Schools of English tuition fees paid may be credited against the cost of another course at Crest Schools of English provided you start that other course within 12 months of your original course start date.
4. In the case of one-to-one tuition, fees are refundable only where more than 48 hours written notice is given.
Visa Nationals
Cancellation in the event of a Visa Refusal:
5. If you have to cancel your course because your UK visa has been refused, before Crest Schools of English can consider a refund you must send us the official documentation of the visa refusal and the original letter of acceptance issued by the School no more than 14 days after the refusal was made.
Where the UK Border Authority (UKBA), the British Embassy or a British Consulate has determined that an application is fraudulent in any way, no refund will be made.
Where a refund is to be made, full course fees minus the registration fee, tuition deposit, bank charges, CAS fee, two weeks’ accommodation charges and accommodation arrangement fee where applicable will be refunded.
Cancellation after arrival or after visa issued:
6. Crest Schools of English is unable to refund fees under any circumstances to visa national students who require a visa to study in the UK and who leave before the end of their course. Visas are issued on the understanding that the student will be taking a course at Crest Schools of English for the dates stated in the Letter of Acceptance for Studies issued to the student.
Attendance
You are expected to attend lessons regularly and comply with all Home Office regulations regarding attendance, where required.
Students should only be absent from school in cases of sickness or authorised holiday.
Students are expected to arrive for classes on time and late entry to class is at the discretion of Crest Schools of English.
Crest Schools of English will award a course completion certificate only where a student has achieved a minimum 80% attendance.
Changes and Extensions
If you wish to extend your homestay accommodation, provided there is availability, we will arrange accommodation with your host. If not, then we will try to arrange suitable alternative homestay accommodation.
If you wish to extend your course, we will not charge a registration fee. Fees must be paid in full in advance for the extended period of study required.
All changes requested by the student regarding course dates, accommodation, holiday arrangements will incur an administration charge of GBP 30 payable before the change is processed.
Holidays
The school is closed on all Public Holidays. There is no reduction in fees or refund for courses that include a public holiday. Alternative classes will not be offered.
Public Holiday dates for 2011-2012:
26th to 27th December 2011
2nd January 2012
7th May 2012
4th to 5th June 2012.
In addition, there will be no regular classes running on the following dates:
2nd to 9th April 2012
27th to 31st August 2012
24th December 2012 to 4th January 2013.
We require at least two weeks’ notice in writing if you wish to take a holiday during the period of your studies.
Students on academic year programmes must give written notice at the time of booking. A maximum of 8 weeks is allowed.
If you are going on holiday and away from your homestay, please give at least two weeks’ written notice to the school and your accommodation provider.
There can be no refund for absence due to holidays but you may extend your course.
Conduct
Crest Schools of English reserves the right to expel students for unacceptable behaviour or lack of attendance. No refund will be given. Repatriation is at the student’s own expense. The student will not be allowed to remain in accommodation arranged by the school. Crest Schools of English will require students to pay for any damage caused to school property or in accommodation.
Miscellaneous
1. Crest Schools of English reserves the right to alter published information, fees, timetables, location of study and terms and conditions.
2. The School reserves the right to merge, split or cancel a class at any time.
3. Crest Schools of English reserves the right to substitute teachers where appropriate at any time during a course.
4. The average number of students in class is 12 with a maximum of 16.
5. Fees are valid only for the person, course and dates specified on the booking form and are non-transferable.
6. Course fees do not include text books. Students are required to buy their own books in the school at the start of their course (cost approximately GBP 25 each).
7. Crest Schools of English will not be held responsible in the case of accident, illness, loss or damage to personal property on school premises, nor in accommodation or transport arranged by the school.
8. Crest Schools of English will not be held responsible for lost or delayed post.
9. Crest Schools of English operates a no-smoking policy in school.
10. Crest Schools of English reserves the rights to all photographs which may from time to time be taken of students for promotional and/or publicity purposes. Crest Schools of English shall retain the copyright in all such photographs and reserves the right to use such photographs as it feels appropriate for advertising purposes.
11. Crest Schools of English will not be held responsible for changes introduced by the UK Home Office and/or the UK Border Agency (UKBA) which might affect students’ status.
12. For your own safety it is your responsibility to keep Crest informed of all changes in your personal circumstances, especially any changes to your telephone number, address in the UK or in your home country, email address and next of kin contact details in case of emergency.
13. Should you have any problems or queries with your course or accommodation, you must bring this to our attention promptly. We cannot accept or deal with problems or queries retrospectively.
14. We recommend all students to arrange personal medical and travel insurance prior to travel to cover all fees and costs in case of cancellation or having to leave early. If required this insurance can be arranged through the School. Please contact us for details.
15. Where the UK Border Authority (UKBA), the British Embassy or a British Consulate has determined that an application is fraudulent in any way, no refund of course fees or deposits paid will be made.
Work Skills Programme
1. The minimum age for acceptance on the Work Skills Programme is 18 and the maximum age is 35.
2. Non-EU participants must hold a valid student visa.
3. Crest Schools of English will take all reasonable steps to place you on a work placement appropriate to your qualifications and preferences. Where however your assessment test and interview indicate that you may be insufficiently qualified for the requested placement, Crest Schools of English reserves the right to offer additional and/or alternative courses or programmes.
4. Students being assigned work placements after arrival in the UK will be offered a placement. If students reject the initial placement, an alternative may be offered; however, Crest Schools of English is not obliged to offer further placements.
5. Where Crest Schools of English or its nominated agent acts as an intermediary in arranging the work placement, that placement will be subject to an agreement between yourself and the company offering the placement. When agreement has been reached between you and the organisation offering the placement, this will be subject to a contract to which Crest Schools of English will not be a party. Crest Schools of English will however participate in monitoring the placement.
6. Crest Schools of English will take all reasonable steps to provide the highest quality of tuition and work experience to students enrolled on this Programme. Crest Schools of English is solely responsible for providing the training component of the Programme but will act merely as an intermediary in arranging the placement.
7. You must complete the work placement at the company where you are initially placed
8. You must complete the tuition element of the programme with Crest Schools of English or you will be in breach of the terms of the programme.
9. Your rights and obligations during the term of the placement will be regulated by UK employment law.
10. You must abide by the rules and regulations of the placement provider organisation.
11. Under UK law, an employer has the right to terminate a worker’s employment with one week’s notice and to instantly dismiss an employee in the event of the employee’s gross misconduct.
12. If you are unhappy with your work placement you may request an alternative placement although an alternative placement cannot be guaranteed.
13. If you leave your work placement without first having tried to resolve your problems with your placement provider supervisor or with the assistance of Crest Schools of English, or if you are dismissed by your employer because of your failure to comply either with their regulations or their reasonable expectations or if you leave your work placement without your employer’s or Crest Schools of English’s written permission, then Crest Schools of English may remove you from the Programme without refund or recourse.
14. Should a placement offer be withdrawn at short notice or where a student claims unfair dismissal or treatment by the placement provider organisation, where substantiated and while another suitable placement is organised, the student will be offered tuition at Crest Schools of English. An alternative placement offer cannot be guaranteed by Crest Schools of English.
15. Late submissions and re-sits (where allowed) may be subject to an administration fee.
16. While we will do our best to ensure the work placement begins on time, this cannot be guaranteed.
Force Majeure
Crest Schools of English shall not be deemed in default of its obligations to the extent that performance of its obligations or attempts to cure any breach are delayed, restricted, or prevented by reason of any act of God or government, fire, natural disaster, labour stoppage, insufficient demand for any classes, the failure of necessary power systems or connections, or any other act or condition beyond the reasonable control of the School, provided that Crest Schools of English takes all reasonable steps to avoid or remove the causes of non-performance and continues performance immediately after those causes are removed. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England.
