We have just moved to a new building with the entire school. We are based in Premier House now and it’s a nice and friendly atmosphere over here.

The view over Edgware from up here is fantastic and we have a lot of space now compared to the old school. There is also a bigger reception, more toilets and much more modern classrooms too.

There are also completely new areas available for students like the kitchen where students can have their lunch or just sit there during the break time.

All in all it’s much lighter because of the huge windows all around the building and it seems that the students feel very well and comfortable.

Crest Schools of English offers many different language courses for every level of English.

They are classified into Part Time (6-12 hours), Full Time (15 hours) and Intensive (21-30+ hours) courses.

They provide several writing classes, 1 to 1 lessons, Work Skills and lessons to improve your Business English. The good thing is that they are also specialized in preparation for exams like FCE or ILEC with special books.

Of course every class has it’s own level and you will take part in a class that is appropriate for your current level of English.

Since the beginning of this New Year Crest Schools of English has moved to the 7th floor of Premier House.

This new building is more spacious, beautiful, lighter, comfortable and bigger. The view is just remarkable; the view down from Premier House overlooks the whole of Edgware.

Also this wonderful place has improved the environment of the school and makes the communication easier for everybody. All the students during the break can learn to know each other better. The centralization of the school makes it easier for every student to find their class and socialise in between too.

So we can say without any doubt that Crest took a good decision and I’m sure all the students agree with me.

London, the capital of England, is a cosmopolitan and dynamic city connecting several cultures around the same language, English. What better place for a student like me to improve his English!

To start I would say that choosing an English city must be beneficial to improve my English. When you are confronted every day with people who speak this language you can only progress. When you want to go shopping, you have to speak; when you want information you have to speak; when you meet people you have to speak. So my level just can’t be the same when I go back to France.

In addition I have the option to do a work placement in London so during my weekday I must speak in English for my job. With this internship I learn new words every day and also get new skills and competences.

To conclude I chose the best way to learn English and I’m happy to take this year for that. I hope I will be much better soon!!

When me and my friend arrived in January we wanted to do a bit of sightseeing and touristy things before clubbing or shopping. We believed that exploring the Tower of London would be a good thing to start with (at this time we didn’t know yet that London Bridge and Tower of London are not the same xD), so we got off at the Tube station and searched for the Towers but we couldn’t see them.

Really disappointed and confused we went to a shop and asked for information. The woman said: Look it’s right in front of you. We answered: Okay there is a road that looks like a bridge but we cant see the Towers. At the end it turned out there are two famous bridges in London!

So my suggestion: get information and study something in advance about the city you are going to visit

There are many benefits of staying in a host family. It’s the first time that I’m in a host family and I’m not disappointed, it’s like being in my own family.

I had two host families and both of them were really hospitable. In a host family, you don’t have to worry about sheets, laundry, rent… Like in your own family. If you want to be alone, you have your room (cleaned by your host mother), if you want to be home and speak with them, they’re here.

But the most important thing of staying in a host family is that you can see how people live, their routine, which dishes they eat and try new flavours (especially in England). It’s also the best way to improve the language faster; they will always teach you new words. To put it in a nutshell, being in a host family is the cheapest and the best way to improve your English quickly.

We are all here for the same things, learning to speak English, but the real question is why we are here?

English as you know is an international language and I’m sure most of you have the ambition to get a good job later. You are right that learning English will help you in your career and putting “excellent knowledge of English” on your CV is an advantage.

However to get a good job is maybe not the only benefit to learn English! With this language you can also get a real access to knowledge that maybe you never thought of.

What are you interested in your life? Is it science? Music? Computers? Health? Business? Sports? Technologies? Movies?

Today’s media — such as the Internet, television, and the press — give you almost unlimited access to knowledge about your favourite subjects. After all, we live in the information age, don’t we? There’s only one problem. Most of this knowledge is in English. If you don’t trust in the information that you are watching in your country, it doesn’t matter: go to a channel website like BBC, CNN, NBC or Sky News and you can have access to all the big recent events in the world.

In addition you can communicate with people throughout the entire world; it’s not for no reason than we call English “the language of communication”. About 1,500,000,000 people in the world speak English. Another 1,000,000,000 are learning it like you!

Or do you like to travel? Speaking English is the most important thing to pack in your luggage!

To conclude, I will ask you one thing: please stop watching English movies without original voices of actors! You take out an important part of the talent of the actor.

Next step for me? First I will continue learning English and maybe, if the Force is with me, I will start Chinese!

My father said once: If I had had the opportunity to go abroad and learn a foreign language years ago, I would have done that. You should take your chance and be glad of having these opportunities.

When I moved to London I was very scared to live alone, speak English and stand on my own feet for the first time in my life. It turned out that it has been still a good idea because from then on I started to become more outgoing and self-confident.

Another thing is that you are all the time surrounded by English speaking people so you can pick up the words very quickly and are able to speak and create sentences faster.

If someone would ask me now if I would do it again, I would say yes and suggest it to everyone who is still sitting at home and has never seen the way of life in another country.

English is the most spoken language in the world. Here in London, you speak English for everything, at the bank, at the store, in the street… You learn and improve your English so much faster!

It’s good to study English here in London because it’s the real English, I was bored of my English teachers speaking with a terrible French accent; here there are native speaking English teachers. You can listen to the real English accent and it’s better to learn the language.

You can visit lots of places here; there are attractions, museums, exhibitions… It’s everyday something new to see.

Finally, it’s important to say in a CV that you have learned English but it’s even more important to say that you’ve learned English in an English speaking country like England. When you come back home, it’s beneficial.
